Gallery - 1980 Trek 710
Here are pictures of a Trek Model 710 owned by Tim Fricker.
The bike has SunTour Sprint derailleurs and shifters, Aero Gran Compe
brake levers, and Royal Gran Compe brake calipers.
Tim writes: "The components on it in the picture
are definitely not original, as I know the SunTour Sprint components
were not introduced until 85 or 86, and the frame is definitely not
that new. The crankset is probably original though, as these SR cranks
were from around the time of the frame. As near as I can tell, the serial
number, stamped into the bottom bracket shell is H4 19K78. I'm not 100%
sure on that . . . the "1" might be a letter?"
By the serial number project results, the frame was
brazed in October of 1979. This late in the year, it probably would
have been sold as a 1980.
It's an all Reynolds 531 frame, with the semi-wrap seatstay
caps with the Trek name cast in. The bottom bracket is plain - no "Trek"
cast in. The headbadge is glued, not screwed.
