Gallery - 1977 TX770 - Rob Hardin
This is one of the TX700 bikes made with Columbus tubing.
The TX700 appears in the early brochures as being available only with
Reynolds 531 tubing. However, several TX700s with Columbus tubing have
been reported. Trek called this model the TX770. At least some of them
were special ordered from Trek.
The first picture is the frame before refinishing. The
following three pictures are after.
Rob writes: "I bought this bicycle at a swap meet
in February 2001 this frame had a road VX crankset, Sakae bottom bracket
and a Trek Micro Adjust headset. It is interesting to note is not a
fastback design. The bike frame was built in 1977. The parts I used
on this bike may have been part of bike in the box program.
This is the fourth Trek I owned; the others are a 620, 400, and a 710.
I would like to thank Larry Gust of Tail Wind bike
Shoppe/Desperado cycles, Village Peddler, Revolution Cycles, Yellow
Jersey bike shop, Williamson Street Bike Works, and the Trek Bicycle
Store for all the help I needed. Finally, I also thank the Champaign
Cycles Shop in which this frame was sold."
