Gallery - 1987 Trek 400D Elance owned by John
Hallows
Here are Pictures of John Hallows' 1987 Trek 400D Elance.
John writes: "I found your fanatastic web site while researching
an older road bike that I found at a local bike shop. The salesman I
spoke with about it said that he thought it was probably 7 or 8 years
old. The bike was really in pristine shape with only a few small chips
in the paint. I wanted a road bike for those times when the trails around
here were soggy after a rain and compared to prices for a new road bike
it was fairly cheap."

"After researching your site and examining the
bike closely, I have concluded that the bike is a 1987 Trek 400D Elance.
The serial number falls into the range for a frame brazed in 1986. The
paint scheme and component group match the 1987 brochure for this model.
The only things that I can find that are not original are the saddle
and the tires. The only thing that was missing were the original toe
straps. It is in truly terrific shape for a 16 year old bicycle and
the shop where I bought it did a great job tuning it up."
"I was happy when I bought it and now I'm even
happier with it. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to
have a first rate and very informative web site. "
