Gallery - 1983 Trek 720 - David Temple
David writes: "It's a totally brand-new bike. I
bought the frame new in 1983 with the plan to turn it into this at the
time. Well, working, going to school and etc., the project got put on
hold until now. I had it hanging in my wood shop all these years, kept
the BB threads greased and all. The Blackburn rack is original as I
bought it and the Shimano brakes at the same time as the frame, from
the same shop I might add. The shop was "Happiness House Cyclery"
owned by Chuck Palmer who now owns the Cycle Sports Shop over in Glendale,
AZ.

"The color is gray with a dark gray panel. I got
the Campy components and the saddle and seat post and larger stem from
Andrew Muzi at Yellow Jersey Ltd. in Wisc. He gave me a fine deal on
a group and even helped me select the sprocket and all.
"The handlebars I purchased from Rivendell, they're
Nitto and extra wide for the comfort factor. The pedals are the large
rattrap, again the comfort factor. Andrew suggested the Brooks saddle
which I surely like. I'm looking for the matching Blackburn front rack
model FR-1 now, in silver. I had the rear forks spread by a custom frame
builder in Glendale, AZ called Oasis frames. Tom Osborne, owner of Tommy-0
Bikes here in Phoenix, cabled up and adjusted the derailleurs, trued
the rims, and otherwise made it road-worthy for me in my limited knowledge
and experience with bike mechanics."
